OUR STORY

GOLF • TEAMWORK • COMMUNITY
It began as golf a weekend with four golf buddies to celebrate my 11th birthday. We had a great time and our parents continued to tell us of our fortune.
A few weeks later a good friend, whom I have known since pre-school, was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. He would not be returning to school and would be staying at The Ronald McDonald House-Bay Area. He and his sister suffered from the same disorder. It took many weeks, even months of tests before doctors diagnosed their illness. RMHC-Bay Area provided accommodations, nutrition, and education support for their families while receiving treatment. Their family stayed at RMHC-Bay area for 300 days and periodically returned for follow-ups.
My parents and I brainstormed on how we can help. The Luke Montoya Golf Invitational benefiting The Ronald McDonald House - Bay Area was held in October 2019. Nine players representing Northern, Central, and Southern California traveled to Monterey to play a 2-day event. The event generated $2,500 for the RMHC's Costume Drive. In 2020, we expanded the team to 12 members and generated $20,000 to purchase toys and care products for RMHC's patient and their families.

In 2021, due to the hundreds of wildfires in California each year, we also partnered with OneTreePlanted.org. As a team of native Californians, it was important for us to help sustain the beauty of California. 7,500 trees were planted as a result of our contribution.

Also in 2021, We Golf Fore Good was created because it is a team effort by the players, our families, and you. The "We" is for all of us who make this organization and event successful each year.

2022 marks 5 years of our annual golf event and we've extended the team to 16 players. We hope, just like the previous years, we exceed our contribution to RMHC-Bay Area and OneTreePlanted.org. Please join us in our efforts.
Thank you for your support,
Luke C. Montoya - Founder
